A PRINCE2 Foundation course is a great place to start your project management certification. It is the first of two PRINCE2 qualifications necessary to become a registered PRINCE2 practitioner.

Project management skills are useful and transferable across a breadth of roles but PRINCE2 Foundation is of particular use to:

  • Beginner and Veteran Project Staff
  • Any team already operating in a PRINCE2 environment
  • Project Managers
  • Programme Managers
  • Team Managers and Support Staff
  • Leadership
  • Consultants / Contractors

The foundation course includes the following:

  • The seven principles, seven themes and seven processes
  • The purpose and major functions of all project management roles
  • The inputs to and outputs from the seven processes
  • The key content and purpose of management products
  • The relationship between processes, deliverables, roles, and the management dimensions of a product

This syllabus is designed to help you think like a project manager and understand key terminology used in project management at a professional level.

There are no prerequisites to the course, but a basic understanding of project management will be advantageous. While the course is valuable by itself, to gain the PRINCE2 Foundation certification you will have to pass a 60-minute closed book exam which can be taken straight after the course or later. Once certified, you will be eligible to further your learning with the PRINCE2 Practitioner certification.

If you provide project management as a service, run your own projects internally or interact with external project management entities, a PRINCE2 Foundation enables consistent project delivery at every stage.
